Hear and Now: Concert with Santa Fe Desert Chorale—July 28, 2005

Santa Fe New Music, in a first-time collaboration with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, presented Hear and Now, a concert of contemporary choral and instrumental works on July 28th at the Santuario de Guadalupe in Santa Fe. This concert marks the debut of Santa Fe New Music's fifth anniversary season, and the first collaboration of Santa Fe New Music and the Santa Fe Desert Chorale.

The concert featured three works combining the forces of the Chorale and a five-person SFNM ensemble, as well as three additional instrumental-only works. The program includes:

Randy Wolff (b. 1959) Shadow of the Sun
Panaiotis (b. 1957) When All Paths are Peace (revised World Premiere)
John Kennedy (b. 1957) Transitional Songs
Steve Heitzeg (b. 1959) Green Invocations (World Premiere)
Dan Becker (b. 1960) Fade
Osvaldo Golijov (b. 1960) Demos Gracias al Señor

Linda Mack, Music Director and Condutor of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale lead the following singers: Soprano: Kimberly Harrison , Heidi Kim, Jennie Olson; Alto: Patricia Kennedy, Mitzi Westra, Donna Wickham; Tenor: Kim Childs, Jeff Manns, Matthew Tresler; Bass/baritone: Ronald Lee Downs, David Farwig, Robert Smith. The SFNM Ensemble musicians are: Susan DeJong, flute; Dana Winograd, cello; Jacquelyn Helin, piano; Douglas Cardwell, percussion; John Bartlit, percussion.
