Santa Fe New Music 2005 Youthfest—May 7, 2005, 3 pm, SITE Santa FeSFNM Youthfest returned to SITE Santa Fe on Saturday, May 7, 2005, as
the culminating event of SHOW Time, a day-long celebration of the accomplishments
of youth in the arts. Sponsored by SITE Santa Fe, Santa Fe New Music, and Santa Fe's Capital
High School, the festivities included an exhibition of sculpture, drawing,
and graphics, live theater pieces, and Youthfest: the awards ceremony
and a concert by the Santa Fe New Music Youth Ensemble. As in the past, SFNM presented the talents of our Santa
Fe New Music Youth Ensemble (the nation's only youth ensemble
dedicated solely to new music) as well as the works of the laureates of the fourth annual New
Mexico Young Composers' Project, a statewide competition for aspiring
composers aged 18 and under. SITE Santa Fe's SHOW TIME was a day-long celebration showcasing the extraordinary talents of the SFNM Youth Ensemble, the New Mexico Young Composers' Project, and Capital High School's fine and performing arts students. Santa Fe New Music reprised Opening Concert of the 2004 Santa Fe International Festival of New Music by screening a video of that concert, which featured, among others, the extraordinarily talented (and youthful!) New York group, So Percussion. |
